Steve Rusticus

I am honored to serve Movement West Michigan by listening for God’s voice and helping guide our ministry in faithful, unified response for the flourishing of our community.

All about Steve

As Executive Director of Movement West Michigan, Steve seeks to discern where God is leading and help the ministry respond with faith and obedience. By listening well — to God, to staff, to board members, and to community partners — he works to cultivate unity and collaboration so that Kingdom initiatives can flourish across the Holland/Zeeland area.

Steve was drawn to MWM because of his deep love for Christian leaders who are committed to loving Jesus wholeheartedly and loving their neighbors well. Having lived in this community for over 35 years, where he and his wife, MeriBeth, raised their daughters and now enjoy life alongside their grandchildren, this region is truly home. With leadership experience in church, business, and nonprofit settings, he has seen the impact that emerges when leaders unite around a shared Kingdom vision.

Steve’s leadership is deeply shaped by a conviction rooted in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

For Steve, leadership flows not from competency alone, but from character — from a life continually formed by Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit. He is passionate about cultivating a healthy culture marked by trust, encouragement, and shared responsibility, where working together as the Body of Christ is both fruitful and joyful.

Through Movement West Michigan, Steve hopes people experience meaningful covenant relationships that invite them into impactful Kingdom work for the glory of God and the good of the community.

Outside of work, Steve finds deep joy in his family. He and MeriBeth, his wife of 42 years, enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, attending Detroit Tigers games, concerts, and spending time in downtown Holland. They are grateful to be active grandparents to five precious grandchildren.
